Draft and thread

Draft tilts a face so a wall leans back a little, and Thread adds a real helical thread to a round face. Both are under Modify on the rail in the Shell group, with Text on Face.

Draft

  1. Click Draft, then click the face. Ctrl-click adds more faces.
  2. Drag the arrow or type an angle, up to 60 degrees.
  3. Press Enter or click to apply.

The pull direction is guessed from the face, and X cycles it through X, Y and Z. The step's Angle and Pull axis rows change it later.

Thread

  1. Click Thread, then click a round face, a shank or a bore.
  2. Set the pitch in the P box and the length in the L box. The pitch starts at the coarse metric pitch for that diameter, and the length covers the whole face.
  3. Press Enter or click to apply.

A thread needs at least one full turn. Edit the hole or shaft size and the thread follows it.

The step's rows add Starts, Offset, Print clearance, Hand (Right or Left) and Operation (Cut or Join). For a standard size, use Standard Thread from the Fasteners plugin.

Text on Face

  1. Click Text on Face, then click a flat, round or conical face.
  2. Type the text in the panel, and pick the font, Size and Angle there.
  3. Set the depth in the D box. Engrave cuts the letters in, off stands them up.
  4. Click or drag on the face to move the text, then press Enter or click Add.

The step's rows change Height, Depth, Angle, Operation (Emboss or Engrave) and Align later.
